The connections of Triple Crown winner Supreme Soul have been forced to find a replacement jockey for his participation in Sunday's Caribbean Classic over 9 furlongs at Gulfstream Park in Florida. This was revealed to RJR Sports by trainer Anthony "Baba" Nunes" who departs on Thursday for the US $300,000 event for 3 year old thoroughbreds from Latin America and the Caribbean.
“Well unfortunately Tyler Gafflione was booked for two weeks now but yesterday (Tuesday) at 5:00 pm we were told by his agent that he has a Stakes race to ride in at Aqueduct on Sunday and was very sorry and apologetic for the late notice. We’ve settled on Jairo Rendon who is a nice young rider at Gulfstream Park,” said Nunes.
Meanwhile, Nunes says the preparation of the 3 year old chestnut colt has gone well since he started exercise workouts on the track two weeks ago. The final entries will be announced on Thursday morning.
