Tallawahs promise strong 2018 campaign

Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Karen Madden

The Jamaica Tallawahs are promising a strong showing with the exciting Caribbean Premier League (CPL) set to start on August 8 but only two matches are scheduled for Sabina Park. Stakeholders of the local franchise are anxious to assure fans the Jamaica Tallawahs will remain on local soil.

Speaking in an interview with RJR Sports at Thursday's Foska Oats breakfast, Director of Operations Paul Campbell again downplayed talk that the franchise could move to Florida. Fans in Jamaica will have only two games at Sabina Park on August 14 and 15 with the three other home games scheduled for Lauderhill, Florida on August 18, 19 and 22.

Meanwhile, Tallawahs team manager Andrew Richardson is not overly bothered about playing home matches away from Sabina Park. With the Tallawahs only recording title successes in the inaugural year as well as 2016, Richardson is promising a strong showing from the 2018 team. The CPL begins on August 8 when defending champions the Trinbago Knight Riders take on St Lucia Stars at the Queen’s Park Oval.
