Thomas rides three-timer as race for jockey's championship continues

Leading rider Anthony Thomas landed a 3-timer on Wednesday's midweek programme at Caymanas Park to push his tally for the season to 82 wins, 10 clear of former champion Dick Cardenas who rode one winner. Thomas won aboard favourites Chief Prospect, Lady Blue and Transition Time while Cardenas guided Diosa De Oro to victory by a neck over Thomas' mount Night Light in the 10th and final event.

Apprentice Christopher Mamdeen also rode three winners while champion trainer Wayne DaCosta saddled two winners.

Meanwhile, the 5 year old chestnut horse Saratoga Sight with jockey Dane Dawkins aboard, prevailed in a driving finish in the Overnight Allowance contest for the Errol "Big Sub" Subratie Memorial trophy over a mile, the feature event on the programme. Saratoga Sight who is trained by Gary Subratie, the son of Errol Subratie, after whom the race was named, came home in a minute and 39 seconds at odds of 4-1. Racing continues on Saturday.
