Thompson takes runner-up spot at Monaco Diamond League

Olympic double sprint champion Elaine Thompson was one of three Jamaican second place finishers at the Herculis Diamond League meet in Monaco on Friday. Thompson clocked 22.44 seconds for second in the women's 200 metres behind Olympic 400 metre champion Shaunae Miller-Uibo who pulled away for the victory in 22.09.

2015 world 100 metre hurdles champion Danielle Williams was also a second place finisher after she came across the line in a season's best 12.52 seconds in the sprint hurdles. American world record holder Kendra Harrison took the event in 12.43 seconds which also represented her fastest time for the year so far. NCAA champion and Jamaican record holder Janeek Brown was 4th in 12.71.

Natoya Goule was also in season's best form as she ran 1 minute, 57.90 seconds, her fastest time for the year thus far to finish second in the women's 800m behind American Ajee Wilson who took the event in 1 minute, 57.73.

Commonwealth Games champion Janieve Russell was a 4th place finisher in the women's 400 metre hurdles in a season's best 54.70 seconds with Rushell Clayton clocking 54.70 for 5th on her Diamond League debut.

Shanieka Ricketts with 14.67 metres and Kimberly Williams 14.56, finished 3rd and 4th respectively in the triple jump on Thursday.
