Three more nominees added for RJR Gleaner Sports Foundation Awards

Chairman of the Selection Committee of the RJR Gleaner Sports Foundation Mike Fennell has revealed three more nominees for the Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year Award for 2018. The sport of athletics will see two more nominees, Shericka Jackson and Hansle Parchment for the Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year titles respectively while netballer Shamera Sterling has been added to the growing list of female nominees.

Former national player Elaine Davis was the last netballer to have been nominated with that coming back in 2003. Fennell has also admitted that more nominees could be added while explaining why 18 year old rugby union player Mikel Facey was not nominated. According to Fennell, Facey’s statistics did not match up to the rest of the nominees. The 58th Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year Awards Gala will be held on January 18 at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel.
