Three schools take 2nd round spots in Manning Cup on Monday

Defending champion Jamaica College, St George’s College and Camperdown High all confirmed their spots in the second round of the ISSA Lime Manning Cup with victories on Monday.

Jamaica College blanked St Andrew Technical 3-0, with goals from Rolando Brown, Sheldon McKoy and Alando Brown.

The Old Hope Road based team leads Group G with 18 points, eight ahead of Norman Manley who came from 2-0 down to earn a 3-3 draw with Jonathan Grant.

Alex Marshall netted a hat trick as St George’s ruthlessly demolished Campion 7-1 demolition in Group A to move to 18 points.

This latest win puts St. George’s six points ahead of Kingston College who clipped Jose Marti 1-0 through Kashane Jones' 75th minute strike.

Camperdown took over the lead in Group D, after stopping Greater Portmore 3-2, courtesy of a double strike from Ramiesh McKnight.

Camperdown now has 19 points, one ahead of Haile Selassie who suffered their second defeat of the season, 2-1, to Bridgeport, at Ferdie Neita Park.

Haile Selassie still needs a point to guarantee a second round berth.

In Group E, Wolmer’s, the reigning Walker Cup champion, was held 1-1 by  Spanish Town.

The Wolmerians are already through to the second round and lead the table with 16 points, just one ahead of Holy Trinity who beat Trench Town 1-0, thanks to Javon Fuller's goal.

The competition continues on Tuesday with eight matches, including Hitz92 FM's live commentary match between Calabar and St Catherine at Calabar.
