Titans gain first innings points over Eagles in JCA Super League

The Central Titans battled to first innings honors against the Eastern Eagles in their 7th round JCA Super League contest at Chedwin Park on Saturday. Batting first, the Eagles were bundled out for 149 from 47 overs with Jevaughn Buchanan top-scoring with 54 and Garth Garvey contributing 35 against left arm spinner Stefan Casey who bagged 6-34.

The Titans who are in search of back to back titles reached the close at 154-6, a slender lead of 5 runs. All-rounder Pete Salmon is 59 not out as Gavon Brown, Patrick Harty and Ryan Francis have all taken two wickets each. 

Meanwhile, at the Noranda Bauxite Grounds, the Southern Seals clawed first innings points from the Northern Panthers. The Panthers were first routed for 97 with Linton Buchanan bagging 5-46 and Oshane Walters 3- for 26.

At stumps, the Seals were 139-6, a lead of 42 with Jamie Merchant 34 not out as Sherdon Allen has so far top-scored with 40.

Over at the Mona Bowl, the Western Warriors need seven runs for innings points against hosts Combined Universities and Colleges. The Warriors in reply to 133 made by the students for whom Sadique Henry made 56 were 126 for 7 at the close.
