TT boss wants to spread sport to Western Jamaica

Voice of Table Tennis Jamaica president Godfrey Lothian & ITTF course instructor Christian Lillieroos

President of the Table Tennis Jamaica Godfrey Lothian says he's aiming to improve the sport in the western end of the country.

With the St James Open Table Tennis Championship set to start, Lothian wants rural area table tennis to be on par with the urban area.

“As we said earlier in the life of the administration, Kingston is not Jamaica. We want to ensure that we bring the west up to the level of Kingston and St Andrew and as the motto says table tennis is played anywhere and everywhere,” said Lothian.

Meanwhile, the International Table Tennis Federation course conductor Christian Lillieroos who arrived on the island this week, outlined plans for his visit.

“We are going to organize the first table tennis tournament in Montego Bay for a long while and then I am going to do an ITTF Level 2 course which will be the first time we are doing this in Jamaica,” said Lillieroos. The Level 2 course for coaches, officials and umpires will begin on Saturday in Montego Bay.
