Tunali captures 2 gold medlas

Ebru Tunali from Turkey made her stamp on the inaugural Jamaica International 2015 Badminton Championships when she defeated number one seed in the Women’s singles, Zuzana Pavelkova in a thrilling three setter at the Alfred Sangster auditorium at UTECH Sunday  night .

Tunali then defeated her Turkish teammates in the women’s doubles, to take home 2 gold MEDALS in the tournament.

Tunali was slow off the mark in the first set, as the energetic Pavelkova raced around the court and won the first game 18-21. In the second game Tunali used her height and shuttle placement to easily secure the game 21-10. In a ding-dong battle in the third set, with the crowd shouting encouragement to both Tunali and Pavelkova, Tunali inched ahead of Pavelkova, who could not sustain her previous momentum and succumbed 17-21 to lose the game and the match.

In the Women’s Doubles, the last match of the night, Tunali with partner Cemre Fere, secured her second gold of the night, defeating Turkish team mates, Neslihan Kilic annd Ebru Yazgan, 21-17, 21-16.

Other results of the night: Men’s Singles, Matin Giuffre of Canada was an easy winner over Turkey’s Emre Vural in straight sets, 21-14, 21-16 while in the Men’s Doubles Guatemala’s Jonathan Solis and Rudolfo Ramirez played a hard-fought three setter to snatch the gold from Turks Emre Vural and Sinan Zorlu.
