Two victories for Jamaicans at Paris Diamond League

Double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson and 2014 Commonwealth Games winner Stephenie-Ann McPherson were the only Jamaican winners at the 12th stop on the IAAF Diamond League circuit in Paris on Saturday. After copping gold at the Pan Am Games in Lima, Peru, Elaine Thompson was now looking to carry over her form into Europe.

The 27 year old who is also the world leader for the 100 metres, took the event in a comfortable 10.98 seconds.
Marie Jose Ta Lou of the Ivory Coast was second in 11. 13 while Daphne Schippers was third in 11.15 seconds. 
Jamaicans Jonielle Smith ended sixth and eighth respectively 11.17 and 11.25 seconds.

Stephanie-Ann McPhearson was another Jamaican winner on the day as she took the women's 400m in 51.11 seconds.

Pan Am Games champion Natoya Goule finished second in the women's 800m in 1 minute, 58.59 seconds behind American winner Hanna Green who was two tenths of a second quicker in 1:58.39.

2018 Commonwealth Games champion Ronald Levy had to settle for fourth in the men's 110m hurdles as he cut the tape in a seasons best of 13.22 seconds. Daniel Roberts of the United States won in 13.08.

Triple jumpers Shanieka Ricketts and Kimberley Williams ended fourth and sixth respectively with best jumps of 14.71m and 14.45 metres respectively. Venezuelan Yulimar Rojas was the winner as she cut the sand with a best jump of 15.05m. The next leg of the IAAF Diamond League will be on August 29 in Zurich.
