Vassell makes first start in MLS

Reggae Boy Peter Lee Vassell made his first start in US Major League Soccer on Wednesday but his Los Angeles FC team went down 1-0 to the Vancouver Whitecaps. The 20 year old midfielder played the full 90 minutes and registered three shots with two on target but was unable to find the back of the net.

It was la fc's first loss of the season but they still lead the Western Conference standings on 19 points. The former Cornwall College and Harbour View star made three substitute appearances, totalling 41 minutes, prior to Wednesday's encounter. Vassell who has 5 goals in his 9 appearances for the Reggae Boyz, was selected as the 40th pick in the MLS Draft by LA FC.
