VCB in winning form

Veronica Campbell-Brown produced the only Jamaican win at the IAAF World Challenge meet in Beijing, China, on Wednesday.

The 33 year old clocked 22.68 to win her opening 200 meters of the season, bouncing back from a below par 11.22 seconds run over 100 meters in Shanghai on sunday. Schillonie Calvert was third in the race with 23.12 just behind 17 year old American Kaylin Whitney who placed second in 23.06.

Aleen Bailey was last in 23.98 secs.

Calvert was also third in the 100 meters in 11.42 with Bailey again last in 11.67. Trinidadian Michelle Lee-Ayee won in 11.05 seconds.

Commonwealth champion Andrew Riley had double duty with little success. In his favored 110 meter high hurdles, he placed 6th in 13.68 secs as world champion David Olivier won in 13.15.

In the 100 meters, Riley finished 7th in 10.42 secs in the event won by Marvin Bracy in 9.95 ahead of fellow American Mike Rodgers in 9.99 secs.
