Ward unscathed after fall at Caymanas Park

Voice of female apprentice Melissa Ward

Female apprentice Melissa Ward who fell from her mount at Caymanas Park on Saturday, has not sustained any serious injury as is set to resume riding this coming Saturday.

Ward who was aboard the 16 -1 chance Buckaluck in the 10th and final event, was dislodged shortly after the horses broke from the starting gates.

“The horse was kind of miserable and fussy inside the gate; she was twisting side to side and wanted to get out as soon as Denzil Miller (starter) flew the gate. As soon as Denzil Miller flew the gate, she swerved to the right and that’s where I fell,” Ward told RJR Sports.

Ward was checked by the doctor on duty at Caymanas Park on Saturday and will make a follow up visit on Wednesday to get the all clear to resume riding this weekend.
