Warren Blake Retains JAAA Presidency

Dr. Warren Blake was on Thursday evening re-elected president of the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA), staving off the challenges of Lincoln Eatmon, an attorney at law and Grace Jackson, a respected former professional athlete and Jamaican Olympian.

In the election, held at Jamaica's National Arena in Kingston, Blake secured 177 votes while Eatmon got 128 and Jackson, 28.

Blake was elected interim president of the JAAA a year ago, following the sudden death of his predecessor Howard Aris.

He has now secured the leadership of the high profile sports association for a full term.

Dave Myrie who campaigned on the Blake team was elected First Vice President while Ian Forbes who ran on the Eatmon slate was elected Second Vice President.

Voting continues for the remaining posts on the JAAA's executive including Third Vice President, General Secretary, Treasurer among others.

"We could be here till 2 o'clock in the morning" (Friday) said defeated candidate for President Grace Jackson shortly before the first results were announced.
