Whitmore praises team's defence for drawn result with Mexico

Reggae Boyz head coach Theodore ‘Tappa’ Whitmore credited his team's defensive performance after their 0-0 draw against defending champions Mexico in the CONCACAF Gold Cup on Thursday night in Denver, Colorado.

In what was a rematch of the 2015 final, Mexico had some good chances but the Jamaican defence was equal to the task. Despite his praise for their defensive performance, Whitmore says much improvement is needed going forward.

Both teams moved to 4 points in Group C which means Jamaica only need a point against El Salvador in their final group game on Sunday. El Salvador also remains in the hunt with three points following their 2-0 win over Curacao in the groups other match.
