Windies 'A' beat England Lions in tense finish

Rahkeem Cornwall held his nerve towards the end of a close contest as the Windies 'A' took a 1-0 lead in their three match unofficial test series against the England Lions. The Windies ‘A’ resumed Wednesday’s final day at the Trelawny Stadium 31-1, needing 75 more runs for victory but lost wickets regularly from the start.

Opener Kieran Powell fell for 30 with just 20 runs added to the overnight score, while Jamaican Jermaine Blackwood fell just six runs later. Shamarh Brooks and Vishal Singh temporarily steadied things but Brooks fell for 16 at 80-4 and was followed quickly by first innings century maker Shane Dowrich who was dismissed for just 4 with the score on 86-5.

Raymon Riefer's dismissal at 91-6 triggered another mini collapse which saw three wickets falling for 8 runs. But Cornwall hit two big fours towards the end to finish on 14 and guided the Windies 'A' to victory at 108 for 8.
