Windies beat New Zealand in final warm-up game for Women's World T20

The West Indies women's cricket team will be heading into the ICC World T20 on Friday on the back of a victory in their last warm-up game, as they defeated New Zealand by seven wickets in Guyana on Wednesday. After being sent into bat, New Zealand were restricted to 122-9 from their 20 overs with Anissa Mohammed doing the damage with the ball with 4-22 from four overs.

Maddy Green top scored with 35. In reply, the Caribbean side got to their target with 11 balls to spare, thanks to Hayley Matthews who top scored with 50. Deandra Dottin made 35 while skipper Stafanie Taylor added 26.

The defending champions of the World T20 will take on Bangladesh in their opening game at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Friday evening. Bangladesh have never advanced past the group stages of a Women's World T20. The match bowls off at 7:00 pm Jamaica time. The Windies will also oppose South Africa, Sri Lanka and England in the group stages of the tournament.
