The West Indies suffered a 64-run loss to Bangladesh in their first test in Chittagong on Saturday's third day. Resuming the day on 55-5 in their second innings, Bangaldesh were dismissed for 125. Overnight batsman Mishfiqur Rahman made 19, having resumed on 11 and Mehidy Hasan Miraz fell for 18 from his overnight naught.
Devendra Bishoo was the pick of the bowlers with 4-26 while Roston Chase took 3-18 as Mahmadullah top-scored for Bangladesh with 31. The Windies, in search of 204 for victory never got going in their second innings and were 11-4 at one stage before being dismissed for 139. Sunil Ambris with 43 and Jomel Warrican 41, were the top scorers as Shimron Hetmeyer added 27.
Left arm spinner Taijul Islam grabbed 6-33 with Mehidy Hasan Maras 2-27 and Shakib al Hasan 2-30 getting the other wickets. Scores in the match: Bangladesh 324 and 125; the West Indies 246 and 139. It was the first time the Windies were losing a test match on a tour of Bangladesh. The second test bowls off on Thursday in Mirpur.
