Windies Under 19s lose ODI series to Bangladesh

It was a losing debut for Jamaican Shahid Crooks with the West Indies Under-19s going down by 171 runs to their Bangladesh counterparts in the second youth ODI of their series in Chittagong.

Crooks made 17 as the regional youth team, set 300 to win, fell for 128 in 49.3 overs. He was the only Jamaican to play in the decisive match, which sees the team trailing 2-0.

Like it was in the first game, the batsmen struggled to cope with the spin, and bowlers got little returns. Alzarri Joseph took a team best 2-50, as the hosts posted 299-5 led by a century 109 from opener Pinack Ghosh.

The West Indies Under-19 had lost the first match by 8 wickets, after posting just 114. The concluding match of the series is to be contested on Saturday, also in Chittagong.

The series is a warm-up for the World Cup also in Bangladesh starting January 22.
