Half-centuries from captain Stafanie Taylor and opener Hayley Mattews could not prevent the West Indies ladies from going down to India by five wickets in their World Cup practice match in Leicester, England. Batting first, the West Indies were restricted to 174-9 in their 50 overs with Taylor and Matthews both getting even 50s.
Felicia Walters also contributed 20 as six bowlers took a wicket apiece to go along with three run outs. In reply, an unbeaten knock of 77 by Smriti Mandhana led India to their victory target at 175-5.
Mona Meshram also got among the runs with an unbeaten 40 against Shamilia Connell 3-42 and Matthews who returned to claim 2-28.
