Young footballers depart for training stint at Stoke City

Seven of the island's outstanding footballers depart Jamaica on Friday evening for an eight-day training stint with English Championship club Stoke City. The players selected for the exercise are: Chantamoi Taylor, Emilio Rosseau, Norman Campbell, Trayvone Reid, Lamar Walker, Giovanni Laing and Shavon McDonald.

Public Relations and Communications Manager at Digicel Elon Parkinson said the players will also get a chance to see the Stoke City senior team play live. The training stint was organised by former national player Ricardo Fuller who played for Stoke City from 2006 to 2012. During that period he scored 50 goals in 208 appearances for the club.

Of his six seasons with the Potters, four of them came in the Premier League. In 2014 the Stoke City Supporters Club voted him as the second most valuable player in the club's history behind Stanley Matthews.
