Young Reggae Boyz exit CONCACAF Championship despite unbeaten campaign

Jamaica's Under-20 football team swamped St Martin 11-0 on Saturday in their final group stage match at the CONCACAF Championship but it was not enough to make progress to the qualification stage of the championship being contested at the IMG Academy in Florida. They were led by a four-timer from Nicque Daley who scored in the 20th, 29th, 39th and 53rd minutes for the Jamaicans who led 7-0 at half time.

There were also double strikes from Leonardo Jibbison in the 16th and 27th minutes and Tyreek Magee in the 17th and 83rd minutes, while Jahmoi Topey scored in the 7th, Ricardo McIntosh in the 72nd and Maliek Howell in the 88th. The Jamaicans ended second in Group ‘B’ with 13 points, the same as winners Mexico who beat Aruba 10-0 in their final group match to end with a plus 29 goal difference.
The young Jamaicans ended with a plus 24 goal difference. Only the group winners advanced to the qualification stage of the competition which qualifies four teams to next year’s FIFA Under-20 World Cup. Mexico are joined by the USA, Panama, Costa Rica, Honduras and El Salvador at the qualification stage.
