West Indies was spared the ignominy of early elimination from the ICC under-19 World Cup on Sunday, recovering from an opening loss to beat Zimbabwe by 167 runs.
After posting 256 for 7, the young West Indians returned to dismiss Zimbabwe for 108 runs. Tagenarine Chanderpaul 84, Jonathan Drakes, 50, Shimron Hetmyer, 49, had led the scoring for the West Indians.
Preston McSween and Ray Jordan then took three wickets each in limiting Zimbabwe.
Both teams are on two points, two behind South Africa, who beat Canada by 45 runs.
West Indies could secure a place in the next round with victory over Canada on Tuesday while Zimbabwe must beat South Africa to make progress.
