After the long build up to the FIFA World Cup in South Africa this year and after 63 matches were played across the African continent, Spain emerged the world champions for the first time in history after defeating the Netherlands.The conquest led to Spain becoming the 3rd nation to hold the European and World Football crowns at the same time. Spain’s victory ended 76 years of waiting for the country’s first world soccer championship and it was the Netherlands third loss in a World Cup final, the others coming in 1974 and 1978.
