Sculptor and painter Valerie Bloomfield Ambrose is dead

Well known sculptor and painter Valerie Bloomfield Ambrose has died. 
 
She passed away peacefully at her her home in Florida early Tuesday morning, after her battle with cancer.
 
Bloomfield Ambrose was an instrumentmental figure in the art industry, teaching at a number of high schools in Jamaica, including Wolmers Girls.
 
She was also a lecturer at Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts. 
 
She was commissioned to do the sculpture of Sir Phillip Sherlock at the UWI, Mona, and was honoured by the institution for her contribution to the industry. 
 
Her work is on display at the National Gallery.
