GraceKennedy reports strong growth in food division

GraceKennedy has reported that its food division continues to show strong growth, with sales expanding by 17 per cent in the nine months to September.

The company on Thursday said its food arm grew as it re-engaged customers, while its local manufacturing arm responded to stronger demand.

GraceKennedy said its agro-processing plant is also set to boost exports of pepper mash next year despite drought conditions.

Renovation

The company also announced that it will be spending an additional J$1 billion to renovate its Hi-Lo stores, having already renovated stores in Barbican and Manor Park in St Andrew at a cost of  $265 million.

Don Wehby, GraceKennedy's CEO,  said the renovations have resulted in improved results in those stores as well as others that are yet to be renovated.
