Hyundai now using Jamaica as regional hub

Grantley Stephenson, Chief Executive Officer of Kingston Wharves, has revealed that South Korean motor company, Hyundai, is now using Jamaica as its regional hub.

Mr Stephenson recently made this revelation as he outlined the growing use of Kingston Wharves as a logistics hub.

"They are already here," he explained, in reference to Hyundai, but added that Kingston Wharves is now warehousing the company's vehicles, "not just for the domestic market, but also for transshipment to other markets."

In addition, he said, Hyundai spare parts are now being warehoused in Jamaica, for distribution throughout the region.

"Most people here would be accustomed to ordering a particular part and having to wait one month, two months, three months (but) the spare parts will be... right here in Kingston and be available for just-in-time shipments," he said.
