Jamaican Government appoints Chief Information Officer

The Government of Jamaica has recruited an information technology executive to oversee its e-Government (e-Gov) agency.

Technology Minister, Phillip Paulwell, has announced that Canadian Dr. Louis Shallal, will serve as Chief  Information Officer (CIO) for the government.

Dr. Shallal, who has operated as CIO in a number of  enterprises in Canada, will arrive in the island by the middle of  next month. He will work with Herman Athias, Chief  Executive Officer of  e-Gov,  to promote secured, integrated e-services across Government.

E-Gov Jamaica resulted from the merger of  Fiscal Services Limited, which implemented large scale government ICT projects, and the former Central Information Technology Office.
