In Friday's trading session, the JSE Index advanced by 1,803 points to close at 155,871.
The Junior Market Index advanced by 29 points, to close at 2,127.
There was trading in 40 stocks of which 22 advanced, 12 declined and six traded firm.
JMMB's 7.50 per cent preference shares was the volume leader, followed by Caribbean Flavours & Fragrances and Proven Investments.
