Metry Seaga, the newly elected president of the Jamaica Manufacturers Association (JMA), on Wednesday urged the government to lead by example in buying Jamaican products.
Mr. Seaga, who was elected president, unopposed, of the lobby group at it's Annual General Meeting, said he will make it his mandate to get the government to buy local.
The Government, he asserted, "must buy Jamaican when it is spending our money!"
Elaborating, he insisted that the State, "as the largest purchaser of goods and services... is bound to lead by example and buy locally made products."
It is only then, he said, that local companies will grow significantly, employment increase, "and our economy grow from strength to strength."

Mr Seaga says other areas of focus during his term as JMA President will be crime and violence, energy costs, and continued tax reform.
