STATIN reports more than 10,000 new jobs

The Statistical Institute of Jamaica (STATIN) is reporting that 10,700 net new jobs were created in the first three months of 2018.
 
The number of Jamaicans working reached an all time high of 1,217,300 people.
 
STATIN said the new jobs were created mainly in industry, wholesale and retail as well the repair of motor cars and equipment. 
 
Despite new jobs, the unemployment rate moved to 9.7 per cent in April, compared to 9.6 per cent in January.
