Government Senator Charles Sinclair has taken issue with the 30-day extension of the state of emergency, arguing that it is inadequate for the security forces to tackle crime.
Mr. Sinclair has questioned whether the 30-day period will give the security forces the time needed for them to achieve certain targets and effectively reduce crime.
"What has brought us to this situation never occurred in a short period of time so it is something obviously that is going to take some time, he contended.
Mr. Sinclair aired his concern during Friday's debate in the Senate on the extension of the States of Emergency.
