The American fugitive who was captured in Jamaica this week after 16 years on the run from US law enforcement, was remanded on Friday when he appeared before the St. Andrew Parish Court.
The deportation hearing against Keemit Hand, was adjourned after his attorney, Pierre Rogers, requested more time to get instructions from his client.
Mr. Hand, who is charged with breaches of the Immigration Act, is to return to court next Friday.
The American, who is wanted by prosecutors in Atlanta, Georgia, for narcotics trafficking, was captured on Wednesday by members of the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC) at a house in St. Andrew.
Mr. Hand fled the US after a grand jury indicted him for cocaine distribution in Atlanta.
Investigators say the American, who was out on bail, fled the US and changed his identity to David Richards when he arrived in Jamaica.
