Bail hearing today for mother and daughter charged with murder

By Prince Moore

A bail hearing is set for today (Thursday) for the mother and daughter charged with the murder of 23-year-old farmer Horace Vassell, of Roses Valley and Siloah in St. Elizabeth, on April 1.

The two, 24-year-old Amanda Patricia Stewart and her 43-year-old mother Lisa Patricia Muir, appeared in the St. Elizabeth Parish Court on Wednesday.

But the matter was put off for the bail hearing to continue Thursday.

Sometime before 3 a.m. on April 1, Horace Vassell and his spouse, Amanda Stewart, were involved in a domestic dispute which became physical.

Ms. Stewart's mother allegedly joined in the fight and Mr. Vassell was chopped several times with a machete.

He later died of his wounds in hospital.

The two women were taken into custody and later charged after being questioned.
