The sitting of Tuesday morning's external examinations at two Corporate Area high schools was disrupted after the schools received bomb threats.

The Caribbean Examinations Council's administering of Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) exams was temporarily halted at Kingston College after the police were notified Tuesday morning.

Superintendent Beresford Williams, Commanding Officer for the Kingston Central Police, said the threat against Kingston College was issued by email sometime Monday night.

"The email would have read this morning. Resulting from that, the compound would have been cleared and we went in and did all that we needed to do," he said, adding that the incident appears to be a hoax.

Superintendent Williams urged those responsible to desist from participating in practical jokes, especially during the exam season.

He said the students at Kingston College were eventually able to sit their exams.

The police were also notified of a second bomb hoax, issued against Campion College in St. Andrew.

Senior Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay, head of the Jamaica Constabulary Force's Constabulary Communications Network, said the authorities are working with the Education Ministry to develop a response plan to stave off future threats.
