CEO: KPH back to normal

Errol Greene, CEO, Kingston Public Hospital
The management of the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) is reporting that the crisis it faced with emergency gunshot and accident victims has eased.

Errol Greene, CEO of the Hospital, has disclosed that the facility is no longer overwhelmed.

Several weeks ago the Health Ministry declared that the hospital was inundated with patients due to a surge in gunshot and accident victims, causing it to run out of bed space.

Mr Greene, speaking Thursday on RJR's Beyond the Headlines, gave details of the changes, noting that things were back to normal in that the hospital is full but not overflowing.

Mr Greene is also reporting that there has been an increase in the number of patients being transferred from facilities in western Jamaica to the Kingston Public Hospital; however, they are managing.
