Digicel has flown in a team of eight technicians from Jamaica to Bermuda to assist with repairing its network, following the passage of Hurricane Gonzalo. The team arrived on Sunday afternoon and was scheduled to commence work on Monday morning.
Alistair Beak, CEO of Digicel Bermuda, said the additional personnel will triple the current team of riggers and installation engineers to allow for a faster network recovery.
The additional crew and equipment will allow for teams of five to be split across the island, with every effort being made to restore 100 per cent capacity by the end of week, Beak said.
Hurricane Gonzalo, which hit Bermuda on Friday, downed utility lines and damaged buildings.
It was strongest storm to hit the island in a decade.
