Another area of the Jamaica Public Service Company's operations has been targeted by thieves, with illegal electricity abstraction having curtailed the company’s ability to read meters in Seaview Gardens, St. Andrew.
The JPS disclosed in a release on Wednesday that a communication device, which collects information from the Residential Advanced Metering Infrastructure system was destroyed by fire, due to illegal connections to the energy cable. The wires were used to serve various premises.
As a result of the equipment damage, several JPS customers in the community are likely to receive estimated bills this month.
The Company is trying to replace the equipment as quickly as possible.
