Pandemonium erupted in the business district in Spanish Town Thursday night after reports surfaced that members of the security forces accidentally shot a child while pursuing a gunman.
Protesters blocked the road and lit fires.
March Pen, Burke and Salt Pond Roads were blocked.
A detachment of police and soldiers has been deployed to help restore calm.
