Flash Flood warning downgraded

The Meteorological Service has downgraded the flash flood warning for northern Jamaica parishes to a flash flood watch.

It is in effect for low-lying and flood-prone areas including Portland, St.Mary and St. Ann until 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

A Flash Flood Watch means flash flooding is possible.

Persons are advised to take precautionary measures, keep informed by listening to further news releases from the Meteorological Service and be ready for quick action if  flooding is observed or a warning is issued.

Meanwhile a trough remains across the central Caribbean and Jamaica.

Light to moderate and isolated heavy showers are expected to continue affecting northern parishes into this evening, while a gradual improvement is expected by Friday.

Sea conditions will deteriorate in the vicinity of showers and thunderstorms, due to gusty winds, and fishers and other marine interests should exercise caution.
