Former CEO of RADA takes legal action following termination of contract

Lenworth Fulton, former Chief Executive Officer of the Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) has followed through on his threat to take legal action against the entity following the termination of his contract. He has filed a claim in the Supreme Court against RADA and its Chairman, Genille Attalla.

In the claim, which was filed on August 3, Mr. Fulton is seeking several remedies. Among them, damages for breach of contract, a declaration that he was wrongfully terminated, and all monetary benefits that were due to him under his contract.

Mr. Fulton asserts that his termination was as a result of political victimisation, due to a change in the government. Mr. Fulton further claims that the letter which he received about his termination was invalid, as it was signed by Attalla, who was not yet appointed the head of the Board.

He is seeking almost $2 million for lost salary and benefits which were due by contract for the period May 20 to August.

Mr. Fulton, who previously served as head of the Jamaica 4-H Clubs, was appointed CEO of RADA in May 2013. He is being represented by the firm Knight, Junor and Samuels.
