Chelsea Avenue in New Kingston was the scene of a gas leak scare on Tuesday afternoon resulting in the busy thoroughfare being closed to vehicular traffic for several hours.
A truck was making a delivery to a business place on Chelsea Avenue when the driver reportedly experienced difficulty negotiating the entrance to the compound.
This resulted in damage to a section of a pipe underneath the truck which transports the gas supply.
Deputy Superintendent of the York Park Fire Station, John Morais, says safety experts repaired the damage while police diverted motorists and pedestrians following the temporary shutdown of the road.
