Motorists are still unable to access roads in Goat Ridge, St. Thomas.
The heavy downpour over the weekend has resulted in two landslides.
One resident who spoke with RJR News said taxis are unable to come into the area because of the blocked roads. As a result, persons are forced to walk for miles.
Marsha Francis, Councillor for the Cedar Valley Division, told RJR News that efforts will get underway shortly to re-open the roads.
Schools resume
In the meantime, classes at Mount Vernon Primary School in St. Thomas resumed Tuesday morning.
The school was closed on Monday after the road leading to the institution was impassable because it was scoured by heavy rains over the weekend.
Mrs Pauline Buckannan Williamson, Principal of the school, said a team from the National Works Agency (NWA) cleared the road on Monday afternoon.
