Government intervening in Fly Jamaica scheduling problems

The Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority (JCAA) has intervened in the situation concerning difficulties being experienced by Fly Jamaica.

Passengers have been complaining bitterly since last month about delayed or cancelled flights, and poor communication from the airline about these challenges.

Nari Williams-Singh, Director General of the Authority, has confirmed that a meeting has been held and information shared with the JCAA by the airline.

“We asked them for a report which we did get on Thursday, and we met with them on Friday at our offices to discuss their recovery plans; they presented to us what their flight schedule would have been for the next five-to-six days to address the inconvenienced passengers, as well steps they have taken to date and will continue to do so to address the concerns of the passengers,” he told RJR News.

Transport Minister Mike Henry has also asked Fly Jamaica to provide him with a report  on the operational problems facing the airline.

Noting that the flight delays constitute “an on-going problem” for the airline, Henry told RJR News that he was asking for a briefing “on what is taking place.
