The Ministry of Health has received proposals for 50 of the 100 health clinics that form part of Jamaica’s Adopt a Clinic Programme that will be launched soon.
According to Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton, there have been positive responses to the initiative.
He told RJR News that, of the 350 clinics in Jamaica, the Ministry has set a target to get 100 sponsors.
Dr. Tufton said, based on the response received, he is optimistic that all the designated clinics will get a sponsor.
The Health Minister explained that, taking into account the profile of each health clinic, the sponsors will be asked to provide medical assistance and funds to maintain the facilities.
The Ministry of Health has established a special department with responsibility to make the receipt of medical supplies and assistance seamless.
