The government has won another round in the legal battle with former Commissioner-General of Tax Administration of Jamaica (TAJ) Viralee Latibeaudiere.
The Constitutional Court, on Wednesday rejected a claim filed by Latibeaudiere against the Ministry of Finance.
The former tax boss sued the government, claiming her constitutional rights were breached, when the Ministry served notice on her in July last year, that her contract would be terminated.
The Constitutional Court ruled that her rights were not breached because she served out her contract which expired in April this year.
The Attorney General's Department argued, that it did serve notice on her, but because of the legal challenges, she was paid all her emoluments until the contract expired.
In rejecting her claim, Justice Evon Brown, awarded costs to the government, which could mean Latibeaudiere will have to shell out millions of dollars in legal expenses.
In April this year, Latibeaudiere suffered another blow, when the Appeal Court declined to hear her case.
The Court said she failed to file her fixed date claim form, within the time prescribed by law.
