Jamaican to be extradited to the Cayman Islands

A Jamaican man who's believed to have robbed a bank in the Cayman Islands has been ordered extradited to that country.
The extradition order was made for Ryan Edwards,  36 , from the eastern parish of St Thomas, after evidence was presented to the Half Way Tree Resident Magistrate's Court last Thursday to prove he was the man implicated in the bank robbery.
He was then remanded at the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre pending an extradition warrant.

According to police reports, on August 8 last year the St. Thomas police accosted two men along the Lyssons main road in the parish in a parked Toyota Altis motor car. A search of the car revealed a large sum of cash, including  US$ 5,000 and CI$ 35,000.

Checks with the Royal Caymanian Police revealed that several of the notes found in Mr. Edwards' possession matched notes stolen during a bank robbery in the Cayman Islands. The probe also revealed that Mr. Edwards was wanted by the Royal Cayman Police for the robbery of the Cayman Nation Bank in June of last year. The police believe that Mr. Edwards fled the Cayman Islands to Jamaica by boat.

The other man was later released.
