Jamaican woman charged after breaking curfew imposed in Barbados

A Jamaican woman has become the first person to be charged with breaking the curfew imposed in Barbados as part of efforts to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

According to the Nation News, 23 year Christean Bridgette Beacon has been charged with remaining outdoors along Government Hill in St Michael, without a reasonable explanation, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. on March 30.

It says Miss Beacon, who is of no fixed address, appeared in a Magistrate's Court.

The Jamaican pleaded guilty and was remanded until April 29, pending deportation to Jamaica.

However, if Jamaica's closed borders prevent her deportation, she will reappear in court the same day.
