JFJ cries foul

Human rights lobby group Jamaicans for Justice (JFJ) is questioning how a probe into its controversial sex education programme administered in six private children's homes was completed without its input.

In a statement, the organisation says it noted that the Ministry of Youth has received a final report on the investigation. JFJ has written to the Ministry requesting a copy.
It's concerned that the report was completed without it being interviewed or asked to provide information.
A committee led by Chairman of  the Child Development Agency, CDA, Maxine Henry-Wilson, was established last month by the Youth Ministry to examine operational activities at the six childrens' homes.
The findings are expected to be made public.

An investigation was carried out into the circumstances which led to the programme being implemented without the knowledge of  the CDA or the Youth Ministry as well as the suitability of  the material presented. The CDA found several breaches and concluded that parts of  the training material were inappropriate for the age cohort.
