The John Rollins Success Primary School in Rose Hall, St. James is in mourning after two students from the institution died in a car crash Tuesday morning.

The driver of the vehicle also died.

Three other children were injured.

Ivon Miller Wisdom, Principal of John Rollins Success Primary, said they were transferred to Cornwall Regional Hospital and are in critical condition.

Senior Superintendent Calvin Allen, head of the Public Safety and Enforcement Branch of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, said the crash occurred about 8.00 a.m., when a Toyota Cressida motor car, heading west, got out of control, ran off the road and came to rest in a ditch.

The car was being driven by a security guard, dressed in his uniform, and was transporting four children, Superintendent Allen said.

He added that the car “was being driven at a very high rate of speed.”

He said the vehicle’s black box will be used to ascertain what happened leading up to the crash.
